ZERO-WASTE* PRODUCTION
Double Dare has partnered with Green The Bid in an effort to make commercial production more sustainable.
Why do we need green production?
Each year the global commercial production industry produces thousands of tons of carbon, along with thousands of tons of waste.
This happens despite the fact that we already have the technology and ability to make all productions both minimal carbon and zero-waste.
Green the Bid is a grassroots movement to bring together the stakeholders in the commercial production community to tackle this goal collectively.
*zero-waste is defined as 90% diversion from landfill.
the three pillars of a green bid
-
• Minimize carbon footprint.
• Leave no litter on-set or at locations.
• Sets, meetings, and scouts to be free of single-use plastics, especially water bottles, cutlery, and plates.
• No-Idle Rule for working vehicles.
-
Supporting the environment with mindful sourcing & use of resources:
• Use only digital creative decks, schedules, & call sheets.
• If paper is absolutely necessary, use recycled stock and print double-sided.
• Source foodstuffs and ingredients locally where possible.
• Hire LED lighting package, with photographer’s approval.
-
Landfill reduction and community benefits:
• In pre-production, plan how to donate large set pieces, non-returnable wardrobe, unused materials, and (where possible) unused meals to local organizations.
• Separate waste from recyclables and compost, and work with local vendors for the correct distribution of materials, wherever possible.
• Source snacks and drinks from sustainable suppliers with minimal. packaging.
It is time for us to shift our industry to zero-waste, net carbon-neutral, sustainable, and regenerative practices.
